Background of the Study
Celebrity endorsements have long been a popular marketing strategy for enhancing brand loyalty. By associating a brand with a well-known personality, companies aim to build trust, increase brand recognition, and foster long-term customer relationships (McCracken, 2023). Studies indicate that celebrity endorsements can positively influence brand perceptions, provided there is a strong alignment between the celebrity and the brand values.
Nestlé Nigeria, a leading player in the food and beverage industry, has leveraged celebrity endorsements to promote its products across diverse markets. In Borno State, a region with unique socio-economic challenges, brand loyalty is essential for sustaining market share. Celebrity endorsements offer an opportunity for Nestlé to strengthen consumer trust and maintain loyalty (Okafor & Umar, 2024).
This study examines the impact of celebrity endorsements on brand loyalty, focusing on Nestlé Nigeria’s operations in Borno State.
Statement of the Problem
While celebrity endorsements can enhance brand loyalty, challenges such as celebrity-brand misalignment, over-reliance on endorsements, and changing consumer preferences can undermine their effectiveness. Nestlé Nigeria faces these challenges in Borno State, where consumer loyalty is influenced by economic factors and cultural values (Ahmed & Yusuf, 2023).
This study investigates how celebrity endorsements influence brand loyalty in Borno State, addressing gaps in existing marketing strategies.
